Introduction

by The Planners

On April the 12th 2006, 19 Advanced Science students from the University of New South Wales set out to document a day in the life of Australian science, shadowing people from a range of science-based careers. The aim was to gain a snapshot of real-life science, uncovering what scientists actually get up to all day, providing insights you cannot get from a high school textbook. Although these reports only represent a small sample of the many fields, they still highlight the diversity of life in Australian science. Hopefully reading these articles will expand your view of science, challenging the stereotypes, or at the very least, show where a degree in science can take you.
