Scientists aren't only interested in facts and figures. Eyland graduated with honours in sociology from university, and later completed other courses in statistics. Eyland and his department use statistics to act as advisors to both the Department of Corrective services and the media. They use scientific methods to convert big ideas into the reality of prisons and management.
