Wide eyed and full of life, thirty six Advanced Science students walked into the Mathews Building. They were expecting a regular lecture for their first LIFE2001 class. Instead they were thrown head first into a project. Sixteen reporters, helped by producers and team managers, embarked on an adventure to observe and report on the life of scientists on the 23rd April, 2008. Student's interests varied greatly and scientists from diverse professions from psychologists to astrophysicists were shadowed. What was the purpose? With enrolments in science degrees dropping in NSW, the Day in Science project was created to show high school students just what a career in science entails. It's not all about mixing chemicals and collecting data. The World Wide Day in Science project has been running since 2003. Every year students around the world are involved.
