New Hope in Stem Cell Research By David Yongchan Kim

There are many diseases in the world that have no treatment or cure. Lisa Kass, a Senior Research Assistant at theAustralian Stem Cell Centre (ASCC)is using stem cell research to find ways in which to treat diseases such as cancer,Parkinson’s disease,Alzheimer’s disease,as well as spinal cord injuries, heart disease and birth defects.

Stem cellshave the ability to differentiate into many specialized cell types in the body.
