Music, Traffic, and Mathematics By Stan Madden

Where did he 'start'?

In Year 10, Chris wanted to be an economist...but not for long. Economics could never satisfy Chris as it seemed vague and the answers were never definite. The more Chris learnt about mathematics, the more he was intrigued. He said, "I liked the definiteness of maths. You are either right or wrong."

Both of Chris's parents are academics. Even in Year 10, he knew he wanted to follow in their footsteps and obtain a PhD himself.

Then What? Where did he go to uni?

Chris earned a degree in Mathematics at the University of Queensland (UQ). He stayed on a extra year, completing a major thesis project and graduated with Honours. He completed his PhD at UQ in the field ofdifferential equations. By the age of 28, he was employed as a full-time academic, just like his parents.
