The Wild Ocean By Stan Madden

Trying to Understand the Ocean

Gary researchesdynamical systems, like the ocean. He createsmathematical modelsthat allow him to understand their behaviour. He is currently creating a model which describes whirlpools off the coast of Antarctica. Using these mathematical tools, in addition to satellite data (which has improved his model by 10%), Gary has made the ocean a safer place for travellers. In the future, Gary wants to create three-dimensional models of the entire ocean.
