When Monique was in high school, she did not have a plan for her future. She chose an Arts Degree at UNSW because she thought it would provide her with general knowledge. However, she found it difficult to get a job.

She needed science on her side. Monique returned to university and completed a Masters in clinical psychology. With these qualifications, she worked in a mental health service for three years. She then found a job at a drug and alchohol service.
